Remembering Sen. Daniel Inouye, RIP

December 20, 2012 § Leave a comment

Earlier today, I went to the U.S. Capitol to pay my final respects to Senator Daniel Inouye, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 88. The term hero gets thrown around quite a bit these days, but I can think of few others who embodied the term so thoroughly.

Throughout his life, Senator Inouye embodied the highest ideals of service to his country. During his many decades in Congress, Senator Inouye made an indelible impact on the lives of so many people both in the United States and around the world. He was a good friend to the people of Bahrain and was always eager to provide his advice and counsel in times of need.

On behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Government, and the people of Bahrain, I would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Senator Inouye’s family, as well as to his colleagues, his staff, and to the entire State of Hawaii during this difficult time.
