On Tuesday, the people of the United States voted to elect the newest leaders of their nation and I commend each American that participated in the democratic process. As the Ambassador of Bahrain to the United States, I would like to congratulate President Obama on his re-election, and to congratulate the new and returning members of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
I am proud to work closely with members of congress on issues of importance to our two nations. The Bahraini-American alliance began in the 1890s with the arrival of American missionaries who founded the American Missionary Hospital and the established the first church in the Arabian Gulf. Over the years, our alliance has developed into a close military, commercial, and cultural relationship that has formed the foundation of regional security and prosperity in the Gulf.
I look forward to working with Congress and the Administration on issues of mutual concern and continuing our important relationship for many years.
