F1 Team Facts: McLaren

The McLaren team is the second oldest active F1 team and one of the most successful. Driving the supercars designed and manufactured by McLaren Automotive are Louis Hamilton and Jenson Button.

Hamilton won his first race, the British Karting Championship at age 10, and began car racing in 2001 at the Formula Renault Winter Series. He won the British Formula Renault title in 2003 and in 2005 took 15 of the 20 races in the F3 Euro Series. In 2007, he made his debut at the Australian Grand Prix for Vodafone McLaren Mercedes.

His teammate Jenson Button was the youngest driver to win the European Super A Championship at age 17. He moved to car racing the next year and won the British Formula Ford Championship. In 1999, he was the youngest driver to start an F1 race. Button has 12 F1 wins and 7 pole positions and was the 2009 world champion.
