March 20, 2012 § 1 Comment

According to a 2009 survey, nearly 60 percent of doctors and dentists, and 88 percent of nurses employed by the Ministry of Health are women. Today, we reflect on some of the women pioneers who paved a path for all those working today:

Fatima bin Ali Al-Zayani – Bahrain’s First Female Nurse

Dr. Layla Ahmed Abdulrahman – Bahrain’s First Female Dentist

Dr. Naeema Hassan Al-Qaseer – Bahrain’s First Female Primary Care Physician

Dr. Sadeeqa Ali Al-Awadi – Bahrain’s First Female Recipient of a B.A. in Medicine

Dr. Maha Al-Khalidi Al-Hamer – The First Female Head of Salmaniya Medical Center
